Newcastle will host Liverpool at St James’ Park on Sunday (August 24) with star man Isak, 25, pushing for a move to the Premier League holders.
Isak is currently on strike at the club, recently releasing a bombshell statement saying that the relationship with Newcastle was “broken”, alluding to “broken promises.”
Howe’s side have been looking to sign a new striker all summer and have been turned down by several players who went on to join Premier League rivals.
Speaking ahead of the clash with Liverpool, Howe remained hopeful Newcastle will sign a new striker regardless of whether Isak leaves or not.
He said: “I don’t think the club will allow that situation to happen.
"We certainly can’t go through the season with no recognised striker at the football club — and that’s no disrespect to Will Osula.
"I think he’s doing really well and progressing really well, but he’s got limited experience in the Premier League.”
