The Seagulls, despite some impressive performances, sit 13th on the Premier League table after defeat at Manchester United last week.
Brighton host Leeds United on Saturday and Hurzeler said this morning: "Every game is important. It's very important to not start now focusing on results, you lose the progress.
"Of course in the end it's about winning and we try to win every game but, on the other side, it's about being there and focused on the small margins because if you focus on things you can't control, the results won't come.
"I'm 100 per cent convinced that we have the right characters, the right personalities, the right quality in our group to get results."
Facing Leeds
Brighton host Leeds sitting just a point above the promoted club.
While ruling out a return for Kaoru Mitoma this weekend, Hurzeler continued: "For me it's not a surprise, if you saw Leeds playing last season in the Championship it was already impressive.
"Then of course they have added new players - everyone who has been promoted this season has spent good money, especially like Sunderland so, they're all doing well which means the league is getting more and more competitive and equal.
"Just look at the table to see how close it is - a sign that the league is getting more and more competitive."
Hurzeler admits getting a result is crucial after defeats in the Premier League and Carabao Cup over the past week.
The German said: "It's always important, results always lift the mood, atmosphere and energy but the only thing we can do is believe in the things we can influence on the pitch.
"Tomorrow will be hard work because Leeds, they are really hard-working, we have to do the basic things right, commit to each other and do the basic things.
"But the main thing is to do the hard work, do the hard work and don't be lazy. That's the main thing so then let's see how it goes tomorrow."
Attacking options
Hurzeler says the recent form of Georgino Rutter has forced a rethink on his selection plans. The former Leeds winger has taken advantage of recent playing opportunities.
The manager said: "I see a significant improvement but I see more potential in him. He's capable of doing more decision-making actions on the pitch, if it isn't scoring goals it's about always being present, staying alive all the time and being a good hard worker against the ball but we can all agree he's made really good developments."
Meanwhile, on veteran striker Danny Welbeck's chances of an England recall for next year's World Cup, Hurzeler said: "I just asked the question to the squad whether Danny Welbeck can play for England and they all agreed.
"That was the only time we've mentioned it. Let's see what happens.
"I'm very convinced for my players and I have a big belief that Danny will be able to play for England but I always try to emphasise that England has a great coach and he will make the right decisions. Let's see."
