Newly promoted Hull City narrowly avoided a Premier League points deduction with two last minute player sales.

The Yorkshire club returned to England’s topflight with an edgy 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in the most controversial Championship play-offs for years.

Hull earned an incredible £200 million with their victory, but in order to adhere to PSR, they still have to sell players.

The EFL's PSR restrict Championship clubs to losses of £39m over three years. Hull had an overspend of about £6m for the period to 2025-26.

Sales of first choice goalkeeper Ivor Pandur to Rangers and Aidon Shehu to Panathinaikos for a reported £2.5m were made just hours before their Tuesday (July 1) deadline.

It is now expected that Hull’s transfer business will ramp up as the new accounting period begins.
