Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has opened up on Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe and his links to Liverpool.

Before Mbappe made his move from Paris Saint-Germain, he was linked with a shock transfer to The Reds under former manager Jurgen Klopp who was constantly challenging for the Champions League title.

Mbappe to the Premier League would be an exciting move

Since his move to Real Madrid, the France captain has reportedly been open to a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool being his dream destination.

However, no move has materialized and speaking to Stake, Evra revealed that it is surprising as the Premier League champions could have been a good fit.

“I was surprised Kylian Mbappe didn't join Liverpool. He would've been a good fit for the club. But his dream was to play for Real Madrid, like a lot of players.

“When the Casa Blanca call you, you don't turn it down. It would be amazing if he came to the Premier League eventually, he has the physicality and pace for it. It's difficult to ask someone to leave Real Madrid once they're there, though.”

Salah deserves more credit

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah will reportedly leave this summer, freeing up space in the side as well as on the wage budget for manager Arne Slot.

Evra spoke on the Egyptian who he believes deserves more credit for his contribution to the club after what has been a disappointing season.

“Mohamed Salah has been at the top for so many seasons. As soon as he has one bad season, he gets put on the bench then he goes to speak to the media, creating chaos, and he's still at the club.

“He's still needed to help Liverpool get into the top four, these moments happen to the big players. Salah should get more credit, everyone in football forgets to fast. Sometimes, the best players can have one poor season.”
