Sancho made it clear to the Red Devils at the start of the summer that he wanted another departure from the side and manager Ruben Amorim who has no plans to use him in the future.
The 25-year-old had turned down Roma in the window and was also a target for Juventus and Besiktas. He eventually signed for Villa at the end of the summer transfer window and even though fans predicted he would feature last weekend, Emery did not give him any minutes.
The Spanish head coach explained this decision and revealed that Sancho, along with other recent signings, are not ready to feature for the club just yet.
"They are in the squad. They were working with us last week and this week. Different circumstances for each one – for example, Jadon Sancho was not training with the group, and physically, he will need time. But he is training normally, and he is in the squad for tomorrow."
Emery also insisted that his focus was on developing Sancho back into the player who could represent his national team before the World Cup next summer under England boss Thomas Tuchel.
"Yes, of course, this is my objective, to get him back to his best - and if he does that then he’ll come back to the national team.”
Villa face Brentford in the EFL Cup and Sunderland in their next league game, and Sancho is sure to feature in at least one of those fixtures as Emery helps the 25 year old regain his form and get back to his old self.
