Wolves boss Rob Edwards has spoken to the media as he prepares to take on Crystal Palace.

Edwards will take charge of his first Premier League game as head coach against Palace as he tries to drag his side out from bottom of the league, a side who have won just one of their last nine Premier League meetings with the Eagles.

Edwards honoured to take the job

He first spoke on taking the Wolves job which he says is a huge honour  after previously representing them as a player, coach and Under-23s manage.

"Feels amazing to be back. Really proud. Genuinely proud. I told staff and the players that.

"I will not lie, it has been an aim of mine since I got the under 18s job. Something I've always wanted to do."

Where does Edwards start?

Next, Edwards was questioned on where he starts with a side who are dead bottom of the league and leaning towards relegation.

"I want some clarity and to get to know the players. Interesting week with international break. Trying to get our messages across with as much clarity as possible, while trying to get to learn the lads.

"There's no perfect job in football. I know the scale of the task. But also really excited by the challenge as well and got full belief in group."

Edwards had to leave for Wolves

Lastly, he opened up on leaving Middlesbrough and joining Wolves which he says was an opportunity he could not pass up.

"I didn’t see reaction but I was aware because some people told me.

"I don’t read about myself, listen to a thing. I'm not aware personally. I don’t ever want to know. That is just me.

"I know I was in a great job at Middlesbrough. Great people and very good players who have done well. So I'm aware of it. But this is something I have wanted to do for a very, very long time.

"I didn’t know if this opportunity would come up again for me to be the head coach of this club. I didn’t want to look back in 10,15, 20 years time that I turned down chance to manage Wolves in the Premier League. That’s it. I didn’t want to regret that and here I am.

"I know scale of the task and I'm really enthused by it. This week has been really enjoyable. But now the games start so lets see."
