Brighton new signing Matt O’Riley has undergone successful ankle surgery.

The former Celtic midfielder did not even last a single half of his first game for the club.

He went down minutes into his debut due to a horrible challenge by Jay Williams of Crawley.

Speaking to the Albion Podcast, chairman Tony Bloom stated: “We are really looking forward to seeing him back at some point in the latter part of the year.”

However, new manager Fabian Huerzeler did land a plethora of new signings this summer.

The Albion have a deep squad and will likely be able to cope with O’Riley’s absence.
