Billionaire Cooperman increases Man Utd stake

The Independent says he now controls 5.2 per cent of United, having acquired another two million shares. Cooperman's share value is said to be worth almost £37m.

Neither the Glazer family, nor Sir Jim Ratcliffe, have reduced their shareholding, instead Cooperman, 82, increased his United stake by purchasing from British investment firm Lindsell Train.

Cooperman, the founder of Omega Advisors, is not believed to be planning a formal takeover of United.

He originally purchased 900,000 shares in 2023, shortly before Ratcliffe completed his own partial takeover of the club.
