Antony scored a late equaliser as Nottingham Forest drew 2-2 with Real Betis on Wednesday night as he continues to be an idol for the side who were desperate to sign him after he spent last season on loan at the club from Manchester United.
United made a huge loss in selling Antony to Betis this summer and Fajardo believes that their loss is Betis’ gain as they allow him the freedom to shine at the La Liga side.
“I am 100% sure that maybe Antony is the most important signing in Betis' history. Everything (about the signing) because the talent, the level of the player, the level of the club as Manchester United a big team, a big project, so I am 100% sure that Antony is the best signing in Betis' history.”
The Brazil international is treated like a king in Seville and is adored by those who follow the club. He is loving life in Spain, away from a United side who are failing under manager Ruben Amorim whose side sit 11th in the Premier League table.
Fajardo admits that he hopes can see them to push for Europa League glory this season and Antony will play a huge part in their journey to the final.
"For Betis it is not easy to sign players from Premier League, because the difference in respect to the salary between the Premier League and La Liga is too big," Fajardo added.
"But when a player like Antony, for example, wants to come to Betis it's easier.
"Antony only thought to play in Betis again, so when you have a negotiation with a big club in Manchester United, a club that paid a big amount for Antony, it's not easy. But the player wants to play in Betis."
