Speaking with BBC Sport, Bernardo reflected on his time with City.
And he remarked: "In seven years, winning six Premier League titles, a Treble, a domestic quadruple, 100 points, breaking the goalscoring record... obviously I'm a little biased, but I could argue that that generation was the best ever in English football.
"So it's not normal, and you can't expect it to last forever."
Bernardo also considered the current transition City are going through.
He stated: "Obviously, if you look at the Champions League final for example, seven or eight players from that team have already left: very important players. We're talking about big names like Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Manuel Akanji, Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, Julian Alvarez, and Cole Palmer."
And on the Chelsea midfielder, Bernardo added: "He's gone, he didn't play much, but he's gone, and he was a very good player. And a new generation is coming through that needs time to adapt."
