TalkSPORT says the England attacker has impressed Barca directors and they're keen to extend his stay.
However, the set price of €30m to make Rashford's stay permanent is deemed too steep by Barca's board.
As such, Barca representatives are now in talks with United this week about reducing the fee involved.
Barca have also raised the prospect of a second season on-loan with the price for the permanent option reduced.
Favouring Barca in the negotiations is Rashford's openness about wanting to stay long-term at the Nou Camp.
