Aston Villa make Douglas Luiz transfer decision after impressive return

Aston Villa have reportedly decided to activate the option to buy in Douglas Luiz's loan deal from Italian giants Juventus.

Luiz, 27, left villa for Juventus in the summer of 2024 with the Premier League club under pressure to meet PSR.

The midfielder struggled to adapt to life in Italy and spent the first half of 2025-26 on loan at Nottingham Forest, before returning to Villa in January.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Villa are very happy with Luiz’s contribution so far and are planning to re-sign him in the summer.

Unai Emery’s side have a £25 million option to buy included in the loan deal and Juventus are keen to offload Luiz.
