Partey, 31, was charged on July 4 over incidents involving three different women. The alleged offences date back to incidents said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022. The veteran midfielder denies all charges and after leaving the North London side after his contract expired last month many have questioned the club’s actions when the whole situation went to the press.
The Ghanaian international continued to play for Arsenal while investigations were ongoing. Arteta was asked in Singapore during the club preseason tour if he feels confident feel that the club followed all the right processes in that to which he gave a simple answer.
"100%, yes."
"The club was very clear in its statement," Arteta said. "There are a lot of legal matters that are very complicated so I cannot comment on any of that."
The lack of public explanation has sparked concern among fans with many questioning why he was able to represent the club on the pitch when the club knew about the allegations. Arteta has also been questioned as the manager of the side who picked Partey who is is due to appear at London's Westminster Magistrates' Court on August 5th.
His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, has said Partey “welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name” as they hope to prove his innocence.
