Arsenal have shifted their focus to Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze this summer as they try to get him for a cheaper price.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have made contact with Eze's representatives ahead of a potential move in the summer transfer window despite interest from Arsenal that has been ramped up in the past few days.

This comes after the Gunners snapped up Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres in the past week which now means manager Mikel Arteta has moved on to his next transfer target which looks to be Eagles winger Eze. Oliver Glasner has pleaded with the Crystal Palace board not to sell any of their star players such as the 27 year old who is arguably their best player but a deal now looks like it is on the horizon.

However, Arsenal, who've spent £194M so far allegedly need Palace to drop their asking price for Eze, which is effectively his release clause of £68M. Arteta is reportedly still reluctant to pay one of the biggest fees in their history even if they have the funds available to match Palace’s evaluation.

If Crystal Palace were to drop the price in the remaining weeks of the window, Arsenal would be keen to proceed. This comes after the club signed Noni Madueke from Chelsea and secured Ethan Nwaneri to a new contract which means signing Eze is not a huge priority as it once was despite their interest. United will see this lack of urgency as a weakness however and manager Ruben Amorim may make a move for Eze if Arteta does not put in a bid for the winger over the next few weeks.
