Slot was brutally sacked six days after the final game of the season, just 17 days after he told reporters: “I have every reason to believe I’m the Liverpool manager next season.”
His sacking came one year after winning the Premier League title following a season which saw the club finish trophyless, barely clinging on to Champions League football and a campaign with 12 league defeats.
Liverpool have since confirmed the appointment of Andoni Iraola as head coach, a welcome move for many fans as they seek to get the side back to playing exciting, attacking football once more.
Now, according to information from SPORT BILD, Slot asked summer signings “Did you win the Premier League?” and said to players such as Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike: “This is how you can play in Germany”.
Many criticized Slot for his arrogance and deflections during Liverpool’s press conferences and interviews this season as he shifted blame and used his Premier League title win as a shield against fans ripping into his tactics which utterly failed over the past year.
Liverpool spent £450M last summer and will look to splash the cash once again this summer under Iraola. Another rebuild is needed and supporters will hope that Iraola can turn the side around and rebuild what Slot slowly tore down at the club.
