Alexander Isak is reportedly set to miss the PFA Awards ceremony despite being nominated for the main prize, with his ongoing standoff with Newcastle over a potential Liverpool move showing no signs of ending.

The 25-year-old has gone on strike at St James’ Park as he continues to push for a move to Premier League champions Liverpool.

Liverpool had a £120 million bid turned down earlier in the summer, with Eddie Howe’s side still holding out for their £150 million asking price.

Isak isn’t training with Newcastle’s first team and was left out of the squad to face Aston Villa in their first game of the season.

Now, according to BBC Sport, the Sweden international is yet to confirm his presence at the PFA awards, which will be hosted at the Manchester Opera House on Tuesday night.
