The 27-year-old joined Pep Guardiola’s side for a reported fee of €57.7 million, with potential bonuses that could raise the total fee to €70.7 million by the end of his five-year contract in 2030.
Reijnders enjoyed the most prolific season of his career in 2024-25 while with AC Milan, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists in his 55 games across all competitions.
Speaking to MilanNews.it, the midfielder admitted he couldn’t turn down the opportunity to join City, describing the move as ‘a step forward.’
“If we look at the last few years of the two clubs, I think it’s a step forward from every perspective,” the Dutchman said.
“Just look at the number of trophies they’ve lifted in recent years. Then here there’s a great coach and you only have to look at the players the club has.
“I have many feelings for Milan but certain trains only pass once.”
