Managed by Robbie Savage, Forest Green are currently unbeaten at the top of the non-league table having taken 13 points from their first five games in the National League where they are one of the favourites to win the division.
An England youth international, Balagizi has been a regular for Liverpool’s U18s and U21s, notably starring in the side that reached the FA Youth Cup final in 2020/21. The 21-year-old, who has been with the Premier League champions since the age of 11 is an impressive talent who could help the side climb their way back to League 2.
He has had previous loan spells with Crawley Town, Wigan Athletic and Kilmarnock and now joins Forest Green where Manager Robbie Savage praised the club for such excellent recruitment.
"It's another great bit of recruitment for the club and shows yet more incredible backing from Dale (Vince) and Asif (Rehmanwala). We're delighted to add James to the squad.”
The club's director of football Mark Bowen also spoke on the deal, which will give the teenager regular football with one of the best teams in the National League.
“James is a top talent and we’re delighted to be able to attract a player of his ability to the football club in amongst fighting off interest from clubs higher up the pyramid.
“We’re incredibly thankful to Liverpool for allowing us to aid his development and add more quality to our squad here at FGR.”
