The Sun's Alan Nixon is reporting Patterson is impressing on-loan with Millwall and his form has impressed Coventry boss Frank Lampard.
Coventry see Patterson as a loan or even permanent addition for next season.
Millwall would also seek a permanent transfer if they clinch promotion from League One this term.
