Real Madrid have suffered a major blow following their 2-1 El Clasico win as Dani Carvajal is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Xabi Alonso’s side came out as victors in the first El Clasico of the 2025-26 season thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.

Their celebrations have since been cut short, however, with captain Carvajal, 33, now expected to be out for around three months.

The club have confirmed that the right-back will have to undergo surgery after their medical team ‘a loose intra-articular body.’

Luckily, Trent Alexander-Arnold looks set to return from a recent muscle injury just in time and will be Carvajal’s likely replacement.
