The Spanish football season isn’t over, as the LALIGA HYPERMOTION playoffs kicked off this past week. There were other headlines too, not least the news that Kylian Mbappé is going to join Real Madrid this summer. That and more is outlined below.

Kylian Mbappé arrives in LALIGA EA SPORTS

It was announced this past week that Kylian Mbappé will play for Real Madrid as of next season. The French forward is leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer and will join the Spanish and European champions, signing a five-year deal. 

 

RCD Espanyol earn an important win in the LALIGA HYPERMOTION playoffs 

The LALIGA HYPERMOTION playoffs kicked off this weekend, and RCD Espanyol took a big step towards the final by winning 1-0 away at Real Sporting de Gijón. Javi Puado’s goal in the 88th minute means the Catalan side can return home for the second leg full of confidence. 

 

It’s all even between Real Oviedo and SD Eibar

In the other LALIGA HYPERMOTION playoff semi-final, it finished goalless between Real Oviedo and SD Eibar in the first leg held at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere. That means the tie is finely poised ahead of the second leg at Ipurua, this coming midweek. 

 

The new LALIGA EA SPORTS season will begin on August 16th 

LALIGA president Javier Tebas confirmed this week that the 2024/25 LALIGA EA SPORTS season will kick off on the weekend of August 16th, 17th and 18th. It will be the 94th edition of Spanish football’s top division.

 

The new PUMA ORBITA ball is revealed

PUMA and LALIGA have presented the new official ORBITA ball for the 2024/2025 season. With a design that uses LALIGA’s corporate colours as a base and transforms them by incorporating elements of pop-art, street art and graffiti, the new ball is an explosion of colours and visuals.

Joan Laporta provides an update on the Spotify Camp Nou

FC Barcelona are expected to return to the Spotify Camp Nou mid-way through the 2024/25 season. They will continue to play at the Estadi Olímpic in Montjuïc while a rebuild takes place at their home ground and club president Joan Laporta revealed this week that the team should return to their own stadium in December or January.

LALIGA legend Rubén Castro is officially hanging up his boots. He made 717 appearances across Spanish football’s first and second divisions during his career, more than any player in history, as he played for clubs such as Real Betis and UD Las Palmas. 

 

Valencia CF win the latest LALIGA FC FUTURES tournament 

The XXXI LALIGA FC FUTURES National Tournament was held this past week, and Valencia CF won the prestigious youth football competition. The youngsters of Los Che overcame their counterparts from Sevilla FC in the final at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
