The Catalans were thrashed 5-0 at Villarreal last week and face Sevilla this weekend.

Michel said today in his media preview:  “The message from the club and from us is that staying in the Primera Division is very difficult. We need a team, a sense of belonging, pride in being here, respect for the fans, etc.

"We need everyone on our side; there are many teams that have the same needs as us. We're not the Girona of two years ago; that was a dream that's already passed. If we don't feel like we have to fight until the end, it will be difficult for us.

"I'm lucky to have a captain like (Cristhian) Stuani, who has always wanted to be here. That's the good feeling everyone should have.”

Two year ago we did the unthinkable

Michel also said: "We've all spoken, as that's the way to go, together and as a team. I haven't singled out any player or any area of the club. What's clear is that to continue in the Primera Division, we need a solid structure and project.

"That's why we have to be clear about the objective and the message. We have to build a team with a top-level sense of belonging, with their minds here, and wearing the Girona shirt is the best thing for them.

"I know that two years ago we did unthinkable things, but we're a humble club with six years in the Primera Division. The objective is to continue in the Primera Division and build a solid team, train at 100%, etc."
