As per pre-agreed rules, LaLiga president Javier Tebas has confirmed at least four games due to be played across the weekend of August 14-16 will be postponed, due to rules on rest periods after the World Cup.
"There will be three weeks of rest for the players, depending on the last match they play in the World Cup, and three weeks of preparation in preseason,"
The four matches concerned have been confirmed as Barcelona vs. Athletic Club, Real Madrid vs. Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid vs. Malaga and Celta Vigo vs. Osasuna - as all four contain at least one player to have qualified for the World Cup semi-finals with Spain, France, England or Argentina.
The plan is for those games to be quickly rescheduled in between the second and third matchdays of the campaign with Tebas confident a compromise can be reached.
"It's very easy for us to divide the first matchday into six games around August 14th and then another three or four on a Wednesday midweek in August."
If any players from the above clubs reach the World Cup final with their national team, that could push the postponements on until the end of August, with LaLiga keen to avoid any carry over after September's international break.
