Yamal, 18, returned from a persistent groin issue in Barcelona’s 2-1 La Liga win over Real Sociedad on Sunday (September 28), coming on for the final 32 minutes.
The young winger was understood to be carrying the issue during the last international break but took pain killers to help him through it, leaving Hansi Flick furious.
He subsequently aggravated the injury and ended up missing Barcelona’s La Liga matches against Valencia, Getafe and Real Oviedo, along with their Champions League clash with Newcastle.
According to a report from Catalan publication ARA, Barcelona are looking to block Yamal from joining up with the Spain national team for their World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria.
