Gordon, the former Newcastle United winger came off the bench in the 65th minute for his professional Barcelona debut and grabbed two fine assists.

The 25-year-old first fired a fine pass to Raphinha who found the back of the net and pointed to Gordon before he found Fermin Lopez with a simple pass across the goalkeeper, with Lopez smiling once more at Gordon after his selflessness.

Gordon etched his name into the history books, becoming the first player in the 21st century to provide two assists on his La Liga debut.

After the game, he was asked after the win whether it was a 'dream debut' for both him and Karim Adeyemi.

"Of course," he replied. "I think you always want to win. It's always about the team first, especially with this club.

"But big congratulations to Kareem because he performed a great performance. He got his first goal. He worked really hard in some defensive transition. So, really happy for him."

Mundo Deportivo described his performance as “dazzling”, “outstanding” and “unstoppable in space” in what is a very positive start for the England international who will hope to continue such form in the club’s next game against Athletic Club on Thursday.
