Premier League icon Alan Shearer says Arsenal's FA Cup knockout could hurt their title chances.

Despite being dumped out of the FA Cup by Southampton and crushed in the EFL Cup final by Manchester City, The Gunners remain top of the Premier League table and in the Champions League Quarter Final.

Arsenal remain favourites for the Premier League title over City and will hope they can turn their luck around ahead of this weekend’s clash against Bournemouth

Speaking to Betfair, Shearer believes that Arsenal will go on to win the title, but their recent cup blows could throw a spanner in the works.

“After Arsenal got knocked out of the FA Cup, it will be incredibly tough for them, mentally, to go on and achieve what they want to achieve.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Man City won the FA Cup,’ Shearer said. “They’ve already got one trophy in the bag.

“I don’t think (City) are going to win the league. They can’t win the Champions League.

“I know they’ve got a tough draw, but I do think with their history and with their experience, they may be the favourites to win it.

“Now they’ve got through the quarter-final against Liverpool, I think they’ll win it.”

Opta predict Arsenal's chance of winning the title stands at 97.42 per cent and if they do slip up this season, it will be a season that rival fans will never let them forget.
