Postecoglou was sacked as Tottenham manager 16 days after leading them to victory in the Europa League final against Manchester United last season. Now, the Australian head coach is back in work after replacing Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest who fell out with owner Evangelos Marinakis.
However, the Europa League victory came towards the end of their worst Premier League season, with the North London side finishing 17th after losing 22 of their 38 matches which simply wasn’t good enough.
The 60-year-old spoke about being sacked and revealed that he knew he would have to leave the side even if he ended their 17-year trophy drought.
"It wasn't great. I knew it was coming so it wasn't a surprise, that's one thing. I knew it was coming a fair way before the final.
“But we won it and we had the parade, it was a great three days. I didn't want it to tarnish that.
"But after that I kind of knew it was done. From my perspective, you have the chance to process that.
“Whether I feel it was unjust, other people made those decisions, made those determinations. That's up to them, you'd have to ask them their reasoning for it.
"What I do know is I had two years where it was very, very challenging but I worked with some fantastic people in the football department."
Former Brentford boss Thomas Frank has since taken over his role at Spurs and has won two out of his first 3 Premier League games, including a win against title favourites Manchester City. Tottenham and Forest will clash in early December in what should be a warm welcome for Postecoglou from Spurs fans.
