Newcastle have stated they intend to complain to UEFA over the treatment of their away support at the Velodrome by local police.
In response, OM released a statement that read: "Olympique de Marseille has read the press release published by Newcastle United FC following the Champions League match played this Tuesday at the Orange Vélodrome.
"The Club recalls that the organisation related to the reception and exit of visiting supporters had been defined well before the match, in close coordination with the Police Prefecture, UEFA and Newcastle United FC itself. This device, in accordance with UEFA standards, was scrupulously applied and took place in good conditions.
"Olympique de Marseille would also like to remind you that it deploys, at each match, very important human, technical, logistical and financial resources to guarantee opposing supporters a quality welcome and optimal safety conditions.
"The Club also points out that no specific incident or alert was reported to it by Newcastle United FC during the evening of the match, nor by their representatives present at the stadium, nor in the hours following the match.
"In addition, the feedback sent to our service by UEFA at the end of the match attests to the quality of the system put in place and its good operational execution.
"Olympique de Marseille reaffirms once again its constant commitment to the travel of its own supporters and, for consistency, its commitment to offering opposing supporters an adapted and secure welcome. As such, the Club cannot accept that its responsibility is wrongly questioned.
"Finally, the Club would like to salute the rigorous and coordinated work of the Police Prefecture, whose action allowed the smooth running of the event and ensured the safety of all supporters."
