Newcastle’s new sporting director Ross Wilson is set to tie down two defenders in his first move at the club.

Defender Sven Botman’s contract expires in the summer of 2027 whilst Tino Livramento’s deal lasts until 2028. As per talkSPORT and The Independant, the club’s new sporting director Ross Wilson is set to open talks with the pair, who are reportedly open to staying.

Wilson was only appointed to the role earlier this month and has wasted no time over the past weeks to decide on who will be staying past the current season.

According to iNews, Botman is open to signing a new deal at Newcastle and reports state that Livramento has no intention of leaving despite interest from elsewhere.

The Magpies Newcastle paid around £35M to sign Botman from Lille in 2022 and the Dutchman has since been linked with Liverpool who are currently looking for a fresh defender for their backline who have been hit with injuries.

Fabian Schar and Kieran Trippier, meanwhile, see their contracts expire at the end of next June and both are unlikely to be handed fresh deals as they come to the end of not only their time at the club but also the end of their careers.

It was revealed earlier today that Sandro Tonali has signed a contract extension last season in what is a huge step forward for the club hoping to secure Champions League football once more.
