The Scottish schoolchildren thought they would be going to see the two sides face off at St James’ Park on September 18th.
Parents of students at the private school were asked to pay £295 for the trip but they have now been informed their tickets won’t be valid.
Fan backlash, led by Newcastle United Supporters Group Chair Lisa Mole blasted the decision, frustrated that genuine supporters may be forced to miss out on the chance of a lifetime.
She said: "It's a ballot, people are not guaranteed a ticket, but it does sting when they see people who are not necessarily Newcastle supporters being given an opportunity to go to such a high-profile game. Members were fighting every week to get a ticket."
