United are sitting in third place in the Premier League standings after a four game winning streak under Carrick is close to being handed the permanent role over the coming weeks.
The Red Devils have secured Champions League qualification and are now focused on finishing 3rd, above the likes of Liverpool and Aston Villa.
Will Carrick sign a permanent deal?
Losing just twice in his 15 matches at the helm, Carrick and his side will be full of confidence. Speaking first on his future with just two games before the end of the season.
“I can't blame you for asking. There’s two games to go, apart from that there’s not much else to say, probably what you expect. The situation is pretty clear for us all. Same as in terms of preparing for the game.
“The future for me is going to be decided pretty soon, we knew that it was going to be towards the end of the season. Nothing has changed, there is no big swing on that. Whatever is beyond that is pretty close anyway.”
Casemiro will have his chance to wave goodbye
Moving on from his future, Carrick next moved on to Casemiro who is set to leave the club at the end of the season. The Brazilian will have his chance to wave goodbye to the home fans at Old Trafford this weekend as Carrick confirmed he is okay to start.
"Case’s available (against Nottingham Forest). I can speak since I’ve been here and met him and worked with him, he's been fantastic for us, for me personally, what he’s given us," Carrick says.
"The clarity helps, knowing the situation, for him and for us, for him to get his head in a place where he can give absolutely everything now it’s going to come to an end.
"It is a credit to him for the way he’s gone about that. Just because it is coming to the end and the clarity with it, it is easy to go to the other way as well. He’s fully invested, fully supported us as staff in the performances he’s given. He’s had some ups and downs over the year, to finish so strongly and see that connection with the supporters is really good to see."
Carrick's message to supporters
Carrick's future looks to be almost certain as he prepares to sign on the dotted line and lead the side into the new campaign. Despite this, he is adamant that he will send a message to fans after what has been the biggest role of his managerial career so far.
"I think that’s important anyway, regardless of the situation, the supporters are a massive part of this club. We thank them for the season and the support, the last four months for me personally.
"I know what you are getting at in terms of the future. Regardless of that, for what we’ve gone through and that connection, the players have felt that, it’s important we have that anyway. It’s important for me to thank the fans for that."
