Bodo/Glimt, the Norwegian side from a town of 40,000 people, knocked out Inter Milan on Tuesday night in what is one of the biggest European upsets in recent years.
After winning the first leg 3-1 in Norway, Bodo went to the San Siro on Wednesday and grabbed a 2-1 victory, sealing a 5-2 aggregate win much to the disappointment of the Inter fans at home.
They will face either Manchester City or Sporting in the last 16 in what has been a very impressive run so far for the club who nobody expected to get so far.
Speaking after the game, manager Knutsen revealed that his side take inspiration from Klopp’s Liverpool side who went all the way in 2019.
“It is a path we have chosen to take, and it is about a lot of things," Knutsen said. "It is a clear identity. It requires tough training, that you work on the field functionally and at high intensity as often as you can.
“Also, the rhythm of the match will always be decisive in that regard. It is inspired by many, including Klopp and Liverpool, who we look to mirror in many ways.”
Klopp has reached four Champions League finals, three of which were during his time at Anfield. Although he won just one of them, Knutsen clearly adores his tactics and style of play which proved to be a success.
Bodo have not played a league game in almost three months after the Eliteserien season started in March and ended in November 2025 in what is an incredible story this season.
