Alisson and Chiesa out of the trip to Istanbul as Liverpool confirmed its travelling squad to take on Galatasaray in the first leg of its Champions League last-16 tie.
Galatasaray have scored at least three goals in eight of their last 13 matches at RAMS Park where The Reds will hope to bounce back from their 1-0 loss back in September.
Alisson was injured in the Champions League 1-0 loss away to Galatasaray back in September and missed several weeks of football as Giorgi Mamardashvili stepped up for the side.
“It is never easy because there is just one goal,” Mamardashvili told The Reds Roundtable. “If I don’t play, I don’t mind. I have to work hard every day and that’s it. My time will come for sure. Maybe not this year but my time will come.”
With Chiesa out, teenager Rio Ngumoha should feature once again for the side after impressing on Friday night as Liverpool knocked Wolves out the FA Cup.
Galatasaray are set to visit Merseyside next week on March 18th after Liverpool hosts relegation candidates Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Whether Alisson and Chiesa will return to the side is yet to be seen, and Arne Slot will be biting his nails as he desperately tries to secure Champions League football for the side who have had a poor season so far.
