The teenager agreed to join Spurs back in 2023 when still a 16-year-old and has since impressed on loan at HSV Hamburg after their promotion to the Bundesliga last season. Vuskovic has been called ‘insane’ by HSV fans and deemed to be a “monster” by Hamburg full-back Miro Muheim.
The decision was made for the defender to stay with Hamburg for the rest of the season as he sees out his loan, which has been impressive so far. Several teams were interested in the youngster who stood over six feet tall in his teenage years, including Manchester City.
However, speaking to Sport Klub, he has now revealed why he dodged the move to join City boss Pep Guardiola and instead make the move to North London.
"I think Tottenham was a perfect fit because they presented a great project.
"Manchester City has many, many, many young players. I didn’t want to be just a number.
"At Tottenham, they presented me as one of the top projects. And that really meant a lot to me at that moment. That was the deciding factor, let’s say."
"The feeling was really great, I was overjoyed (to be joining Spurs). My father called me, said that they were just waiting for my signature, that they really wanted me.
"They showed me the project. And I really liked it. I didn’t think much about it."
Reports state that Spurs are keen to keep hold of Vuskovic who many believe could be good enough for the first team over the next few years. Manager Thomas Frank and his staff will be keeping a keen eye on the teenager as he develops and grows into a world-class talent.
