Manchester United icon Jaap Stam has suggested that Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane deserves to win a trophy such as the Ballon d'Or.

Averaging a rate of a goal every 66.7 minutes in the German top flight this season, the England captain has become a goal scoring machine with Bayern

Kane has 33 goals this season in the Bundesliga alone as he continues to thrive under manager Vincent Kompany who certainly knows how to get the best out of the 32-year-old.

The former Tottenham star has lifted a ton of silverware since joining the German side and has already claimed another Bundesliga title before this season has concluded.

Kane for the Ballon d'Or?

However, speaking to ComeOn, Stam believes that Kane deserves a individual award for his efforts such as the Ballon d’Or.

“I think Kane needs to win a major trophy as an individual. I've seen him play so many times now, especially lately, over the last couple of years, even at Bayern. It's a great team, and there's a lot of pressure there.

“If you watch him play, you see how effective he is, not only scoring goals but also dropping deeper, linking up the play, and his high work rate. I think he is a great professional.

“Considering his character and great personality, he really needs to win a trophy.

“To me, he looks like the type of guy you want to see win a trophy because of his attitude and how he conducts himself within the team.

“He was linked to United once, and we keep thinking about that, but we don't want to dwell on it anymore. However, he is the type of player we needed to score goals because, in every aspect, a striker needs to play like that.”

Kane has 95 Bundesliga goals in 91 games, the fastest in competition history and he has more goals than anyone in Europe’s top 5 leagues. This year he has a great shot at winning the Ballon d'Or, but only if he finds success with England at the World Cup.
