On-loan from Chelsea, Jackson's form and impact with Bayern has been questioned by pundits in Germany.
But ahead of the weekend clash with Bayer Leverkusen, Kompany said: "Nicolas Jackson? He's doing a great job! We talked about his integration last week, and I think he's settled in very quickly.
"I know why this question is asked, but I have no problem having a completely different opinion on his performance than what the media sometimes reports.
"My feeling against Dortmund in the first half was: he played an exceptional role in allowing us to play. The same was true in Paphos. He understood our game very quickly, even against Brugge.
"He's a striker. If he scores, he's the best. If not, isn't that enough? That's not how I see the game. We're happy he's here, and he'll become important this season. His playing ability is already at the right level. I've already seen some positive things, and we'll keep calm and support him: the rest will follow."
