Salah’s former teammate, Sadio Mane scored to send Senegal to the Africa Cup of Nations final this week as Egypt were knocked out of the competition in brutal fashion.
The winger is expected to remain in Morocco to compete for a bronze medal after the defeat, and fans are asking when he will next be available for the Reds.
Manager Arne Slot spoke on the situation in his latest press conference, revealing that he would be delighted to welcome Salah back despite this season’s drama.
“That is something we are talking about together now. He is back next week. We are in talks with him about what is expected of him over there, what is expected over here. But, first of all, he needs to play another big game for Egypt on Saturday.
“I am happy that he comes back. Mo has been so important for this club, for me, so I am happy that he is back. Even if I had 15 attackers, I still would have been happy if he came back but that is not our current situation.”
Salah is reported to return to Merseyside on Sunday or Monday; and could be available for the Marseille trip (Jan 21st) before travelling to Bournemouth (Jan 24th).
With summer signing Alexander Isak out with a leg fracture and Slot’s options are limited in attack. A return for the Marseille game seems possible but the club should confirm more details over the coming days.
Salah might need a few days off before returning to Liverpool duty and will not feature against Burnley this weekend like some reports state.
