The Burkina Faso Football Federation confirmed the 53-year-old Franco-Comorian’s appointment after a rigorous selection process.
Abdou replaces Brama Traore, who was dismissed following the team’s early exit at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
His arrival is viewed as a strategic reset for a talented squad seeking greater consistency on the continental stage.
Abdou’s immediate priority will be preparing the team for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and upcoming World Cup qualifying matches, as he aims to restore stability and competitive edge.
"Following a call for applications and a rigorous examination of the different profiles, Comorian coach Abdou Amir has been officially selected to take the reins of Burkina Faso's A team," the FBF announced.
