Maresca issues worrying update as Delap faces longer layoff

The 22-year-old has already endured a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge, having missed two months with a hamstring problem since his £30 million move from Ipswich Town. 

Chelsea will assess the extent of the shoulder injury over the next 48 hours to determine how long Delap will be unavailable.

“Unfortunately he has already been out for two months and he has to be out again. We don't know for how long, but it looks quite bad, his shoulder,” Maresca said.

“He has been unlucky. We are also a bit unlucky because we need that kind of a No.9.”
