He told Mirror: "Playing and being confident, having fun with my football, it made me much more confident than I was before (I came to Hull),.
"It is crucial: if you want to play well and to the best of your ability, you have to be happy. You can't let what happens on the field determine how you feel off it. It must be the other way around. It is important.
"I'm in a good place and I'm in a (good) position to go back to Liverpool. It's very exciting, especially for the players coming back from loans like me and Tyler (Morton) who didn't really leave our mark on the club.
"It is time to show the people who come in that we are here and up to the challenge. That's the whole point of pre-season, to show what you're made of. Then we'll see what happens."
