Second half strikes from Daniel Munoz and Yeremy Pino hand the Eagles an impressive victory at the Molineaux after a goalless first half.
In his post-match assessment of the result, the tactician expressed disappointment with the home defeat but calls for patience and long-term planning.
“Really disappointed with the result. The effort was there, but we can still improve in certain areas, that's for sure,” Edwards told the club website.
“As you look back, the game’s moments. We actually started the second half well and looked like the team more threatening, and then there's elements of good fortune in the first goal, but they take that chance.
“Today was probably the story of our season – what we're picking up on at the moment, it was really important that we got the first goal, and we weren't able to do that.”
“The game was so tight at that moment, and then clearly a loose giveaway and a brilliant finish from them, it's almost a non-chance, but a brilliant a brilliant finish for the second goal,” he added.
“So, it was never going to be a quick fix. Obviously, we're disappointed with the result today, but we’ve got to try and build on the things. There were some glimpses there. We created some big chances and there were moments there.
“You look at the actual stats, there's not much in it, it's probably why they are where they are, and why we are where we are right now at the moment, and that's what we've got to try and reverse.”
