The Gunners finished the season two points behind champions Manchester City after victory over Everton.

Odegaard told arsenal.com: I'm glad we got the win, to finish with a win at home was the only thing we wanted to do today. We did that but unfortunately we didn't have the luck needed and were so close.

We're making big steps all the time. If you compare it to last season, we were a lot better and more mature with a new record of wins in the league, so we're doing a lot of good things and it's just a matter of time until we win some big trophies. We're just going to keep pushing every day to do that.

We're allowed to feel a little bit disappointed at the moment, we came so close. But if you look at the season, it's been unbelievable. I think the steps we are taking all the way feels so much stronger than last year."

He added: I'm proud of the boys and I'm proud of the team, the club, the fans and everyone.

'The support we've had throughout the whole season away and at home - everywhere it's unbelievable. We love them so much and hopefully next season we can come back and give them a good trophy to celebrate."
