Villarreal goalkeeper Reina on Marseille collapse: Velodrome atmosphere intimidated us

Villarreal goalkeeper Pepe Reina admits they struggled with the Valodrome atmosphere after their thrashing at Olympique Marseille.

OM thumped Villarreal 4-0, with Alberto Moreno being sent off, in the first-leg of their Europa League round 16 tie on Thursday night.

Reina said: "It was a very bad first half in which we didn't do anything well except for the first ten minutes. In the second half with one less it was very difficult.

"Nothing came of it for us and in these qualifiers, a bad half leaves you in trouble. things are very bad, but there is a second leg left and we are going to try. Hopefully what happened today against us can happen next Thursday in our favor.

"Not only defensively, we have not had personality with the ball. It was an environment that can intimidate many players, you have to have personality on the field and you have to have personality, which the team needs."

"We are truly sorry, we are going to try to turn it around in the game at Villarreal to turn the tie around."
