Former Juventus midfielder Massimo Mauro says Francesco Calzona should be handed a long-term deal at Napoli.

Napoli's players have instantly responded to Calzona's methods since his arrival. The former Napoli assistant coach also remains in charge of Slovakia's national team.

Mauro told RAI Radio: "I hope that Calzona is confirmed: he knows the environment well, he plays in the same way as Sarri and Spalletti. If there is no revolution among the players, I think that Calzona is the ideal coach.

"Yesterday a semblance of the team that was won the scudetto: lots of ball possession and Lobotka returned to being the leader of the counterfield. With a little more balance in defence, Napoli are the ones who won the scudetto.

"They must find defensive solidity and the right distances. Calzona is the right man, I hope they don't change anymore and focus much more on the players."
