Liverpool boss Klopp admits admiration for Atalanta coach Gasperini

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted his admiration for Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Atalanta are at Liverpool tomorrow for the first-leg of their Europa League quarterfinal.

Klopp said: "It is quite uncommon, for me to be here for as long as I have and for him to be there for that long.

"I think you have to leave the club in a better state than when you arrived and we have tried to do that in our culture, an understanding, a mentality inside the club. It is independent of the manager or the head coach, it is just how you deal with stuff.

"The rest is just results. Maybe trophies, maybe not, but results.

"What you leave is a better culture and I am pretty sure that's what he has done too. It is a great club, they had a difficult situation in Covid but it is great to see that we are going to play there now in front of a full crowd and a full stadium.

"In this moment, I don't plan a further career as a manager. Maybe ask me again in a year, but not in this moment."
