England boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson will to fight this week.

Anderson has slowly been on the rise after leaving Newcastle United and joining Forest in the summer of 2024. Last season he made 37 Premier League appearances last season as Forest secured European football and Tuchel was one of many to notice his ability.

He also helped England under-21s retain their European title as he featured in every game under manager Lee Carsley who would have been in Tuchel’s ear about him recently.

Now, Tuchel has commented on Anderson’s fighting spirit, which may have led to the German head coach picking him for the World Cup qualifiers.

“First of all, he’s very talented. He has a certain edge,” the England manager told ITV ahead of this evening’s match.

“He is like a tough midfielder. You don’t want to fight with him. You don’t want to make him angry on the pitch because he will fight back. This is good.

“He has a physical note to his match. He loves to pass and has a high volume. He is a very mobile midfielder.

“Humble boy. Very calm and knows his role. He is happy to help everyone out on the pitch, so he fits in very well at the moment.”

Anderson is likely to feature against Latvia on Tuesday night, with a win confirming that England will feature in next year’s World Cup after a perfect start to qualifying.
