England are bidding to defeat the defending champions and reach their first World Cup final since 1966 on Wednesday night in what is set to be the most intense clash of the competition so far.
Argentina beat Switzerland 3-1 in the Quarter Final whilst the Three Lions defeated Norway 2-1 in what was an incredible performance under manager Thomas Tuchel.
Ahead of the game, Scholes was asked for his predictions and revealed that he believes that Argentina may have a huge advantage due to their recent World Cup success.
“I think the path for England and Argentina have been very similar. I don’t think either team has played that well, but they’ve got through games.
“The biggest advantage for Argentina is that they’ve done it before and they know how to win these big games in tournaments. We’re yet to prove that.
“This will be lively, this will be chaos. This could be 4-3 either way, there will be yellow and red cards. If Argentina lose they’ll all kick off, that’s absolutely guaranteed. And if you lose to them, it’s horrible.
“I think we can beat Argentina and Spain, but I’m not sure we can beat France. I think we need Spain to beat France.”
Every knockout match involving these two sides has at least 3 goals and with tensions high heading into the game police presence has been raised for what may be an incredibly tense game from the very start.
