Trabzonspor have come to an agreement with United over a loan deal for the goalkeeper who is known for consistent mistakes in recent years which has led manager Ruben Amorim to force him out of the club this summer.
He is expected to complete his loan move in the next few hours with the Turkish window open until 12 September and has now posted a picture of him on a private jet as he makes his way to Turkey.
Reportedly the move should be secured before the Turkish transfer deadline on Friday and Onana is expected to earn more money at Trabzonspor due to the signing-on fee that he will receive, in addition to the flat 20% tax rate for the Super Lig.
Amorim secured the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day in what is a straight replacement for Onana who was playing as back-up to Altay Bayindir at the start of the campaign.
Lammens could start in the Manchester derby on Sunday if Amorim is ready to throw him in the deep end in what would be a very tough test for him or fellow young goalkeeper Bayindir.
