The 34-year-old returned to the Citizens last summer after spending just a season with Barcelona, he later signed an initial one-year contract before a 12-month extension was triggered earlier this summer.
Gundogan has made 358 appearances for City across two spells, 51 of which coming in City’s historic treble season. He has been an essential figure under manager Pep Guardiola he convinced him to rejoin the side even if it meant giving up 2 years of wages at Barcelona.
Now, Galatasaray have revealed that he has landed in Istanbul to complete his move to the Turkish giants who are hunting down the league title once again. In a series of tweets showing Gundogan greeting fans who welcomed him, the midfielder has clearly entered a new stage of his career.
“İlkay Gündoğan, in Istanbul! #GundoIsHere” One tweet read while another read: “LIVE BROADCAST | İlkay Gündoğan is in Istanbul! #GundoIsHere
“The first images are now LIVE on the Galatasaray YouTube Channel and GSPlus.”
The Turkish Super Lig champions previously said that he would be interested in playing for Galatasaray, who he is a lifelong fan of. A move to Galatasaray would see him reunite with compatriot and former City teammate Leroy Sane who may have played a part in him making the move.
