The former Milan vice-president explained, "A difficult choice.

"I made it so I could dedicate myself fully to the other activities I'm involved in, but also to give the new ownership and management complete freedom to express their vision and pursue their projects.

"Among these is bringing Monza back to Serie A: a historic milestone, achieved for the first time under Fininvest management, thus fulfilling President Silvio Berlusconi's dream."

The press release issued by Fininvest regarding the sale of Monza read:

"Fininvest SpA and Beckett Layne Ventures (BLV) announce that they have today completed the first closing of the transaction for the sale of the share capital of AC Monza SpA, previously announced on July 1, 2025.

"Following completion of the necessary regulatory authorizations and the fulfillment of the conditions set out in the agreement, BLV officially assumes control of the Club with 80% of the shares. Fininvest will remain a shareholder of the club with a 20% stake, which will be sold to BLV by June 2026.

"This brings to an end the Berlusconi family era at the 'Brianteo', which began in 2019 and reached its peak with the club's first historic promotion to Serie A."
